A wealth of resources, opportunities and potential
Limpopo Business is a dedicated business and investment guide to Limpopo Province, promoting the key sectors and opportunities of the region, and showcasing the initiatives and achievements of the Limpopo Provincial Government.
Limpopo, the northernmost of South Africa’s nine provinces, was one of the country’s more neglected areas under the apartheid regime, with a significant part of the province’s 123 910km˛ allocated to ‘homelands’. Yet, between 1996 and 2002 Limpopo experienced an average growth rate of 4% – the highest of all of the provinces.
Growth in the province is fuelled by development of its under-exploited wealth of natural, cultural and historical resources, through its three key sectors – mining, agriculture and tourism. Limpopo boasts the world’s largest reserves of platinum group metals, abundant coal deposits and the largest diamond mine in the country. It produces 60% of the country’s tomatoes, 75% of its mangoes, 65% of its papayas, 33% of its oranges, 36% of its tea, 25% of its citrus, bananas and litchis, and 60% of its avocadoes. It boasts a World Heritage Site and over half of the Kruger National Park, and Polokwane, the capital of Limpopo, has been selected as one of the 10 host cities for the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup, which is expected to attract around 100 0000 visitors to the province.
The Limpopo Business print publication and complementary website profiles companies, municipalities, government departments and agencies and other organisations across a wide range of sectors, providing an ideal medium to market products, services and investment opportunities to a targeted local, national and international readership.
