Fetakgomo Local Municipality is one of the high-performing municipalities in South Africa. We obtained unqualified audit reports in the last two consecutive financial years. We obtained second position in the Provincial Vuna Awards in 2008. We are the recipient of the Executive Mayor’s Excellence Award as the best performing muncipality.

Geography and location
Fetakgomo is a category B municipality located within the Greater Sekhukhune District
Municipality of Limpopo.

Main business sectors
Fetakgomo is ideally and strategically situated in the Dilokong Corridor between  Polokwane and Burgersfort. The main economic sectors in this area are mining (platinum and chrome), livestock and poultry farming, and social services. The
tourism sector also has potential for growth. Other activities include subsistence farming (mainly vegetable crops and goats).

Main attractions
Fetakgomo gained a new dimension since the Potlake Game Reserve came into the picture. It is ideally located for access to the Dilokong Corridor and many shafts of platinum and chromium mines.

Other attractions include:
• Bokone Platinum Mine This platinum mine is ideal for mine visits and has brought muchneeded employment opportunities to the people of Fetakgomo of the Sekhukhune District
• Indie village for ancient footprint discovery
• Bapedi history, namely, wars of resistance with the English led by the Burgers
• Mphanama Caves (historic significance as a sanctuary during the conquest battles of the past 150 years)
